Louise Sellar is the Director of The Thyroid Trust and Ricky Boleto currently at CBBC as a news presenter on Newsround, discuss their shared experiences of being diagnosed with autoimmune Graves’ Disease (Graves’ Disease an autoimmune condition that causes an overactive thyroid, also known as hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis – where the thyroid gland produces too much of the thyroid hormones). Ricky openly talks about his own journey from symptoms, diagnosis, treatment choices and how it has impacted his work, family and overall well- being.

The thyroid is a butterfly shaped endocrine gland that lies in the front of your neck. It is a vital hormone gland that plays a major role in the metabolism, growth, and development of the human body and it helps to regulate many body functions.
The Thyroid Trust is a UK registered thyroid charity led by patients but who work closely with medics and researchers. The Thyroid Trust provides reliable information and peer support for thyroid patients and their families. The Charity is working hard to educate, raise awareness and influence change to make things better for all thyroid patients.
