Dr Mark Goulston
Mark Goulston, MD FAPA, is a retired American psychiatrist, former UCLA Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, FBI/police hostage negotiator and host of the highly ranked podcast, My Wakeup Call. He is the author/co-author of nine books that have been translated into 42 languages with his book, Just Listen, becoming one of the top books on listening in the world and recently being named as the 4th best communication skills book ever. His Wall Street Journal best-selling book, Get Out of Your Own Way, was first published in 1996 and continues to be a top self-help book.
One of his passion projects is improving teen mental health and reducing teen suicide. He is the inventor of Surgical Empathy, an approach to breaking through to emotionally stuck people, co-creator and moderator of the documentary Stay Alive: An Intimate Conversation about Suicide Prevention and an executive producer of the documentary What I Wish My Parents Knew.
He is a co-founder of the LinkedIn-based 90 Second Mentor, a member of the Marshall Goldsmiths’ 100 Coaches, founding member of the Newsweek Expert Forum, and was named No 60 in Leadershum’s Power List of the Top 200 Biggest Voices in Leadership for 2022.
