Dr James K. Tibenderana is a malaria and public health expert, with over 20 years of experience in the fields of epidemiology, infectious and tropical diseases and health system strengthening. Ugandan-born, he trained as a medical doctor at Makerere University, Kampala and as an epidemiologist at Institute of Public Health, University of Cambridge and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

James was appointed Chief Executive of Malaria Consortium, a global health charity, in 2022, having joined the organisation as Development Director in 2005 and subsequently becoming its Africa Technical Director and then Global Technical Director.
